“Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics & IT” with the approval of Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs was initiated in 2014. The Scheme was evaluated & recommended its 2nd phase with some changes & additional components. Later on it was approved by Hon’ble Minister, MeitY with budget of Rs. 481.93 Crs for a duration of 9 years. |

About the scheme
Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India has conceived a scheme to enhance the number of PhDs in the Electronic Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) and IT/IT enabled Services (ITES) sector. Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the scheme with a total estimated cost of ₹ 466 crore (Rupees Four Hundred One Crore only)over a period of nine years |
