The National Health Mission (NHM) website is the primary digital platform for disseminating information about India’s flagship public health programmes, schemes, policies, health initiatives, guidelines, publications, and citizen services under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. The platform caters to a broad audience, including citizens, healthcare professionals, programme managers, state health departments, researchers, and development partners.

Participants are required to conduct a comprehensive UX audit of the existing NHM website and propose a redesigned user experience using the UX4G Design System. The redesign should improve usability, information architecture, accessibility, service discoverability, and overall user experience while ensuring compliance with GIGW, WCAG 2.2 AA, and the Digital Brand Identity Manual (DBIM).

The objective is to transform the website into a modern, citizen-centric, accessible, and scalable government digital platform that enables users to easily discover health programmes, access services, explore publications, and navigate the NHM ecosystem efficiently.

    • Conduct a comprehensive UX audit of the existing NHM website using Nielsen’s 10 Usability Heuristics and modern UX best practices.
    • Evaluate and improve the website’s Information Architecture, navigation, content hierarchy, and service discoverability.
    • Identify usability, accessibility, and interaction design issues impacting different user groups.
    • Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA accessibility standards.
    • Ensure compliance with GIGW (Guidelines for Indian Government Websites).
    • Align the redesigned interface with the Digital Brand Identity Manual (DBIM) and Government of India digital branding standards.
    • Redesign the experience using the UX4G Design System, leveraging its components, patterns, accessibility principles, and responsive design framework.
    • Improve discoverability of key health programmes, schemes, publications, dashboards, and citizen services.
    • Create a responsive, mobile-first experience that supports users across devices and varying digital literacy levels.
    • Design intuitive user journeys for diverse stakeholder groups, including citizens, healthcare workers, administrators, researchers, and policymakers.
    • Deliver a scalable design that can serve as a benchmark for future Government healthcare digital platforms.

Participants should submit a design solution that includes:

    • A comprehensive UX Audit Report documenting usability, accessibility, GIGW, DBIM, and WCAG compliance findings.
    • User research insights, stakeholder analysis, and target user personas.
    • Revised Information Architecture and sitemap.
    • User flow diagrams for key healthcare journeys.
    • Low-fidelity wireframes demonstrating structural improvements.
    • High-fidelity UI screens designed using the UX4G Design System.
    • Responsive desktop, tablet, and mobile layouts.
    • Accessibility considerations and WCAG 2.2 AA compliance documentation.
    • Design rationale explaining major UX decisions and improvements.
    • A clickable Figma prototype showcasing the proposed user experience.
    • A summary outlining how the redesign improves usability, accessibility, service discoverability, and compliance with Government of India digital standards.
